Symposium
From acute clots to chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension
Clinical
Aims : This session focuses on right heart failure, especially in the context of acute and chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension. The aims are (1) to understand the mechanisms of right ventricular failure under conditions of high pressure, (2) to be aware of the medical principles that underlie the treatment of the right ventricle under conditions of high pressure, and (3) to learn about the treatment options for patients with acute pulmonary embolism. In the latter aim, how to decide between the treatment options in chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension and the evidence supporting these decisions will be discussed along with how and when to support the right ventricle in end-stage disease.
Target audience :
Cardiologist, Clinician, Intensivist/critical care physician, Nurse, Patient, Pulmonologist, Researcher, Scientist, Student, Thoracic surgeon
