Aims : Aims: The aims of this symposium are to describe the evidence-based knowledge on clinical cessation skills and effective health system approaches to smoking cessation; to promote the systematic implementation of evidence-based clinical interventions and effective technological cessation aids; and to discuss the role of mass media campaigns and the need for evidence-based and adequately funded interventions, for both smoking prevention and cessation.
