Impact of non-respiratory symptoms (pain and fatigue) and impaired postural control on physical function in chronic respiratory disease: an update on diagnostic tests and rehabilitative treatment options
Aims : The audience will gain insights into the impact of non-respiratory symptoms (pain and fatigue) on physical function in chronic respiratory disease. The relationship between respiratory muscle function, postural control, and symptoms of back pain in patients with chronic respiratory disease will be discussed. A variety of functional assessment methods (including balance tests) and their responsiveness to rehabilitative interventions will be described. The scientific background and rationale for four different innovative exercise modalities will be described. This session is meant to be of high practical use. After this session, the audience should be able to implement the insights that are presented directly into their daily practice with patients.
