Lunchtime session
Vitamin D and asthma prevention, COPD screening, and bronchoscopic lung volume reduction in emphysema
Clinical
A joint ERS-JAMA lunchtime session
Aims : The evidence that suggests high-dose prenatal vitamin D supplementation can prevent childhood asthma will be described. Whether this evidence supports population screening or targeted case-finding to identify patients with unrecognised COPD will be explored. The benefits and risks of bronchoscopic lung volume reduction interventions for patients with advanced emphysema will be discussed.
